Understanding the Option Chain Screener

The Option Chain Screener helps you analyze option contracts by filtering on expiry, contract type (CALL/PUT), and screener criteria. It shows key metrics like price, open interest (OI), implied volatility (IV), volume, and their changes to help you spot trading opportunities.

  • Expiry: Select the expiry date for option contracts you want to analyze.
  • Type: Choose between CALL, PUT, or ALL contracts.
  • Screener: Pick a screener filter for quick analysis (e.g., OI Gainers, Price Gainers, IV Rise, ITM/OTM, Build Up, etc.).
  • Click Apply Filters to update the table with your selected criteria.

  • Symbol: The contract symbol (stock or index).
  • Type: CALL or PUT option contract.
  • Strike: Strike price of the option.
  • LTP: Last traded price.
  • %Day change: Percentage change in price.
  • Vol contracts: Volume of contracts traded.
  • TTV (cr): Total traded value in crores.
  • OI / OI change / %OI: Open Interest and its change.
  • IV / %IV: Implied Volatility and its change.
  • Build up: Indicates build up type (Long/Short/Unwinding/Covering).

  • OI Gainers/Losers: Find contracts with significant open interest changes.
  • Price Gainers/Losers: Spot contracts with strong price movement.
  • IV Rise/Fall: Analyze contracts with notable changes in implied volatility.
  • ITM/OTM: Filter contracts that are in/out of the money.
  • Build Up/Unwinding: Detect long/short build up, unwinding, and covering patterns.

  1. Start with screener filters for quick insights, then combine multiple filters for deeper analysis.
  2. Compare OI, price, and IV changes together for better market sentiment detection.
  3. Use build up and ITM/OTM filters to confirm strength of moves.
  4. Paginate through results for broader market coverage.
  5. Combine screener results with your own technical and fundamental analysis.
